Issues still in mind
There are couple things that still annoying me, i know the differences of peoples, but still why? why looking down on me? cuz I’m asian? cloth style? dialect?… and yes I’m talking here, in Sweden. It may be one of the world richest country and yes it is a country of innovation, like it or not but this country can challenge the rest of the world in all subjects. But the way of looking down of people, specially to non-swedish-born-blonde-blue-eyed-christian-volvo-villa… i remember many times the Swe really look down of me becuz I’m asian, little guy 5’6, annoying of us talking in our native language.
Most annoying time i remember and still annoy over is, when i was in mall looking for fresh vegetables, standing there couldn’t decide which one to talk and then i decided, and 3 swedish girls came “looks like they were in hurry” and we couldn’t decide with way to go “left or right” so i stood still so they could decide with side to go, and she told me “men FLYTTA på dig! = its like, move away!/move your ass, stupid!”… it’s very rude to talk that way here in Sweden, spec in public, and when they do talk like that, they think that you can’t speak Swedish.
Another time i remember was a trip to Vietnam, I’m sorry from Vietnam back to Sweden, one stop at Bangkok international airport. Switch plane and sat almost at row 60 far down, in the middle row. I could remember that almost every european citizen sat the end of the airplane, cuz i heard germans, french and ofcuz Scandinavians (Swedish and Danish people).
A family 5 swedish citizen, sat next to me, 2 back and 3 next to me, cuz middle row has 4 seats, and i was to the right side. Mother and father sat behind our row, and the girl and 2 boys behind, she didn’t want to sit next to me, and YES…she thought that i couldn’t understand Swedish, so told to her brother; I don’t want to sit next to a chinese. I was like, what? i don’t really care, but why saying I’m Chinese? its very rude to call someone chinese if you can’t see the difference. And from my experience, when a Swe get angry to an asian, they call to you; jävla kines = fucking chinese.
Anyway 2 of her brothers were behind, they said “we switch later just keep going, people are coming from behind, in swedish“. I wasn’t looking at her, and she sat next to me, and she smiled and said: Hello.
Or when driving a fancy car, the Swe their thoughts “its imported car, its not Swedish bought” imported cars not from agents, describes as budget one even its high brand “except ferrari, lambo, bentley, RR you know” if a asian or east european guy drive a BMW 740 or Audi A8, to swedish people; “where have he bought this car?” can’t we afford one? If driving a porsche or ferrari, they think “he must be mafia or shark loaner or money swindler“. But if a Swe driving in those cars no big deal, wiiiii.
I really do like and love this country, but the biggest problem is that they learn their kids “double morale/standard” at home and in school, but you don’t see it early in school, but you can feel it in high school. And “double morale” talks really a lot here in Sweden. Two face of swedish people, its very hard to tell if they like you or not, unless people with asian and white relation. But you rarely see them, maybe 1/1000.
They look down of you ove: cloths & shoes “low brands”, heights “average height men ~6’1, women ~5’9″, educations, jobs, social standard “if you living in a flat, suburb not downtown/center flat”, driving “toyota, nissan, kia, hyundai, mazda” etc etc etc etc…
Its a shame, i really do like almost everything about this amazing country, the people here are really friendly “double morale, never know” and i have always, always trying my best in everything to prove us worthy just like them. I study hard, sports hard, high school, university, school of business, army, volunteer public service, home guard, never late bills, paying tax, not complaining, work hard… but double morale here is a very scary thing, saying one thing, doing another thing…
